UNIQUE HOUSE DESIGN WITH AN ORIGAMI ROOF CONCEPT

UNIQUE HOUSE DESIGN WITH AN ORIGAMI ROOF CONCEPT

Ubud – Ideas and creativity often come from unexpected things, such as the architectural design of a private house called “Kubu Taru,” derived from the word Kubu which means house in Balinese, and Taru which means tree. Kubu Taru is a private residence designed by the architectural studio blancostudio. This private home, owned by an artist, was built to become a comfortable and safe place for his family. The house was designed with a roof inspired by the form of origami. The fluid roof shape, which appears dynamic and moving, was designed with various slope angles following the direction of the sun. This 411-square-meter building was designed with separated roof and building structures to create good air circulation while also providing natural sunlight throughout the space.

Komang Aditya, Senior Architect at blancostudio who served as the architect for the Kubu Taru project, shared his experience in building this house. The role of the roof was certainly very important in this project. In addition to requiring a roofing product with a unique design, the installation system also had to support the vision in order to achieve the expected result. FUMIRA Click-330® was chosen by Komang and his team because of its minimalist appearance, its ability to be installed at the minimum required slope angle, and its hidden screw installation system, making the roof look cleaner and neater. Komang also added that the roof is the part of Kubu Taru that he likes the most because the roof shape feels alive and has a different character from every angle. He also shared that Kubu Taru remains safe and comfortable both during rain and hot weather. Komang described the Kubu Taru project in one word: “Comfortable.”
